Your file
Sieve reads your CSV in your browser tab and cleans it there. The file is not uploaded, not sent to us or to anyone else, and not stored: there is no server for it to go to. Close or reload the tab and it is gone, along with every change and the undo history.
The cleaned CSV and the change report are made in your browser too, and saved straight to your device when you ask for them. The report names your file because it is yours; it goes nowhere else.
Sieve has no account, no database and no cookies, and writes nothing to your browser’s storage. Share copies the address of the tool, never a file. The embed shows sample data only and cannot open a file at all.
Measurement
Sieve counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and no storage of any kind, and it has no identifier for you: a visit is counted against a hash of the request that is thrown away within the day, so we cannot tell a returning visitor from a new one, and we cannot follow anyone between our tools. Everything after the page’s path is removed before a visit is reported.
It also counts five actions: a file opened, a fix applied, a cleaned file downloaded, the tool shared, and the embed code copied. A file opened is counted with its size and row count in broad bands, such as “under 100KB” and “100-999 rows”; a fix with its kind and a band such as “10-99”. No file name, column name, value or exact size is ever part of an event.
Your IP address reaches Vercel, who host Sieve, as part of any request to any website, and is used for the approximate country in the visit count. We do not store it.

We count visits on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the tool get used. The counting is done by Vercel, so it goes no further than the company already serving you the page. Vercel is a US company, so that processing happens outside the UK under the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms.
You can ask for a copy of anything held about you (which should be nothing), ask for it to be erased, or object to the counting altogether, at hello@digitopiadesign.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
